There are those who say “once saved always saved: you can’t be born into the family of God and then be unborn. Then there are those who say that if you decided to walk away from God after years of devotion you just were never saved to start with. I don’t hold to either one of those views. I believe you must do as God instructs you to do or you will die again to your sins and I believe that after days, weeks, or even years of devotion if you walk away from God you will lose your salvation and by no means does that mean that you were not saved to start with. The only way your salvation is secure is if you always love God with all our heart, mind, and soul and love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:37-40).
2 Peter 2:20—For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, then, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, the dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
